SMALL GROUP SESSIONS

When things get complicated

small group sessions

Sometimes it’s hard to stay with ourselves in the middle of relationships, power dynamics, and sensory overload. These group sessions offer a safe container where you can explore what’s happening, guided with care and attention.

Types of situations you might bring:

  • ‘I wonder how I can set boundaries with my family’
  • ‘I’m not sure how I feel about what someone said to me’
  • ‘I don’t know how to resolve this clash’

The combination of personal guidance and the presence of a group can be unexpectedly healing, especially when earlier experiences with family or community made it hard to be yourself.

The sessions are for you if you recognize yourself
in the following:

  • You override your needs in the heat of the moment
  • You’re overthinking future and past conversations
  • You feel like you have lost yourself in certain relationships
  • You are hesitant to go in a different direction in career or life
  • You have been taking care of others disproportionately

What we are going to do:

We’ll gather live on Zoom with a group of up to eight people.

Each session, we connect as a group and make space for 1-2 cases brought by some of us. I guide the process with tools like Nonviolent Communication and EFT tapping, and the presence of the group adds an extra layer of witness and support.

Examples of situations one might bring forward:

  • ‘I wonder how to set boundaries with my parents’
  • ‘I’m not sure how I feel about what someone said to me’
  • ‘I want a better relationship with my kid, while taking my needs into account as well’
  • ‘I feel overwhelmed and I need a moment to digest, so I can hear myself again’.

You’re never required to go into your experience. Growth happens both when exploring your own situation and from hearing what others share.

Prior experience requested:

You don’t need prior experience with a specific method. It is helpful if you’ve spent some time reflecting on yourself, whether through therapy, coaching, Nonviolent Communication, or other forms of inner work.

What I don’t do:

  • • I don’t push people to work according to a specific method. The work is tailored to you and where you are at a certain moment.

    • I don’t label or pathologize. That said, if certain diagnoses or labels are meaningful to you, you’re welcome to bring them.

    • This is not therapy, although the effects can be very therapeutic.

    • Apart from a weekly theme and a short reflective paragraph, there’s no homework. These sessions are about presence, I don’t want to add to your to-do list 😉

About the facilitator:

About the facilitator:

When I work with people, I tend to slow things down so they can hear themselves more clearly. I’m good at spotting misalignment and often able to put words to things that have been hard to articulate. I don’t gloss over discomfort, and I pick up on subtle signals – both in individuals and in group dynamics.

People who work with me have said they feel deeply understood, felt things shifting, and got lots of insights around what their next step could be.

My work is shaped by more than a decade of teaching Nonviolent Communication, I’m a certified trauma-informed coach, and an EFT tapping practitioner. I have 10+ years of experience in coaching people one on one and in groups.

FAQ

What prior experience is asked?

You don’t need prior experience with a specific method. It is helpful if you’ve spent some time reflecting on yourself, whether through therapy, coaching, NVC, or other forms of inner work. If you have any doubts about your prior experience and whether this group will suit you, reach out to me via email (info@cupofempathy.com).

Is this like therapy?

This is not clinical therapy, though it’s usually as deep and healing as therapy groups. I often use similar techniques to therapists. Due to the group setting, it is less suited for those in deep crisis – I would recommend 1:1 sessions for that.

Is there support between sessions?

This space works best for people who are able to take care of themselves between sessions. You don’t need to have everything figured out, but it’s important that you’re able to notice what’s happening for you and can find ways to tend to yourself until the next session. That said, you can always book a 1:1 session with me if that seems a fitting addition.

What is your refund policy?

Because this is a small, closed group with limited spots, registrations are non-refundable. Please make sure this feels like a clear yes before joining.
